Impacted wisdom teeth (third molars) can cause pain and pathology. This may include infection, tooth decay of the wisdom tooth or adjacent tooth, and formation of cysts. 

An assessment of your wisdom teeth will include discussion of surgical risks including pain, infection, bleeding, swelling and damage of nearby structures such as the sinuses and sensory nerves.
